Spring Carnival Outfit

Do's + Don'ts

Just like every major event, there are certain styles and expectations to fit in with the occasion.

As it is leading up to the Spring Racing Carnival, here at Style State we want to give you some tips on the unspoken Do's and Don'ts when picking out your race day outfit.

DO wear a dramatic head piece...

DON'T become too carried away...

Everything in moderation, go fabulous and over the top but do not topple over from carrying an entire tree on your head.

DO dress for the day...

DON'T arrive in evening attire...

We understand that you may be the disco queen of your group but leave the skin tight mini dresses and sequin skirts at home.

The racing carnivals are all about showing off your style so have some fun with the day time fashions.

DO add some pre-races glow...

DON'T be the one with stains on your outfit...

Feel free to add some pre-race day glow, however we cannot stress the word 'PRE' enough! If you're applying fake tan do it well in advance, nothing ruins an outfit like streaks of running tan.

DO have the freedom to choose between long or short...

DON'T show too much skin...

Short and Stylized dresses are the trendy new thing at racing carnivals, however, this does not mean a spaghetti strap bodycon dress with heels. Keep it classy and opt for something short but sophisticated.

Keep in mind the balancing out rule: If you're showing lots of legs, keep the top covered up.

DO prepare for all weather...

DON'T end up with last minute additions to your outfits that don't go...

Girls, two words: Weather Forecast. You don't want to assume the weather will be sunny and amazing all day, only to wake up and get a shock because it has become overcast and gloomy.

Have a nice cardigan or a throw on stand-by, don't end up having to drape your old denim jacket over your stunner of a dress because you weren't prepared.

DO feel free to branch out on fabrics...

DON'T wear Denim...

Just like all formal events or venues, Denim is definite no no. Style and elegance is key, so if you get a little stuck, just ask yourself, if you wouldn't wear it to a classy venue or a wedding, why would you wear it today.

DO wear comfortable footwear...

DON'T wear brand new heels...

We understand the need to retire the heels after a long day on your feet, however this does not mean throwing on a pair of runners or thongs. Start off on the best foot, dress in what you know! Don't wear brand new stilettos with straps that dig into your ankles, wear something comfortable.

You will look more fabulous with a less extravagant more practical heel then you would walking barefoot and blistered across the green.

DO add some accessories to your outfit...

DON'T over accessorize...

Race day accessories take a normal dress and make it a races outfit, however be careful not to over accessorize.

Less is more with your accessories, not every accessory has to be a statement. Pick one piece to stand out and keep the rest simple or if your dress is already enough of a statement, do not overload it, instead pick all subtle accessories to compliment.

We hope our little Do's and Don'ts will be of some help this Spring Racing Carnival ♡
